Clinical Decision Support in Oncology: From Chemotherapy Planning to Collaborative Specialist Networks

This HIMSS Europe webinar provides theoretic background as well as practical insights from Onkologikoa, a specialized Oncology hospital, as well as MedicalExchange Medting, which offers a family of web products for eHealth, from collaboration platforms to online medical viewers. Themes to be presented by HIMSS Analytics Europe (HAE) will include: An introduction to the European EMR Adoption Model highlighting the key challenges of reaching Stage 6 & 7; A definition of Clinical Decision Support and the Closed Loop Medication Administration process, including a description of key components.

Onkologikoa will provide insight into the role of the hospital pharmacist and Health staff using IT in the medication process. It will be focused on the way that they have implemented technological strategies for medication error prevention to increase safety in the chemotherapy process within Onkologikoa, an oncology hospital, in San Sebastian, Spain. In particular, they will show the paperless process they have in place for chemotherapy patients, an initial CDSS for selecting the appropriate chemotherapy treatment and several aspects they are working on in different R&D projects.

Miguel Cabrer from MedicalExchange Medting will discuss about the potential to strengthen clinical decision making in oncology through social networking and collaboration.
