Expressions of interest invited for workshop on medicines for older people
European Medicines Agency (EMA)The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is inviting expressions of interest from experts and stakeholders interested in attending a workshop on medicines for older people on 22 and 23 March 2012. The workshop's objectives include:
  • Presentation and discussion of the Agency's geriatric medicines strategy and related activities, including identification of any gaps in the strategy;
  • Providing an opportunity for identification of areas of synergy between stakeholders
  • Providing a sounding board for the actions undertaken and expected from the Agency and its Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) by stakeholders

The sessions will be designed around the main themes of the geriatric medicines strategy and tie in with the European Year for Active Ageing. They will include:

  • Healthy ageing and medicines;
  • Demonstrating safety and efficacy in the older population;
  • Geriatric pharmacovigilance;
  • Compliance and formulation issues;
  • The role of regulatory agencies in providing information to the older population.
