Doctors 2.0™ & You: Basil Strategies announces 10 Start-up Contest Finalists to Compet

Doctors 2.0 & You organizers of the 2nd edition today announced the finalists of the conference start-up contest. Ten start-ups based in 6 countries in Europe, Asia, and North America will compete on May 23-24 in Paris by presenting to a jury and networking in order to also compete for the popular vote. The services they bring represent a new generation of web and mobile applications, collective intelligence through communities, connection between healthcare professionals and patients at a distance. The 2011 winners, Diagnosia (Austria), MesVaccins (France), Withings (France and USA) will exhibit in May in Paris.

Organizer Denise Silber notes that "healthcare social media and web 2.0 for health generate a good number of start-ups, and increasingly in the mobile space, but they need to get greater visibility in order to get more funding and Doctors 2.0 & You wishes to help in this respect, thanks to our contest."

The 2012 start-ups are - by alphabetical order: Avis Médical (France) a patient-physician question and answer service, BlaBlaDoctor (Indonesia) an online health community targeting users through 5 languages (Arabic, English, French, Indonesian, Spanish). DigitHealth services to physicians on mobile, (France), drugee online service facilitating side effect reporting, (France), iDoc24 (Sweden) distance dermatology advice, Laastari (Finland), an on-site clinic using mobile devices and eHealth to improve efficiency, MeltingDoc (France) online physician communities, Observia (France) online tools for improving treatment adherence, SantéConnect (France) online professional communities, Synappz (Netherlands) with its first mobile app, a voiding diary. The jury include international eHealth experts with a start-up mentoring background: Eugene Borukhovich (Netherlands/US), Leo Exter (Belgium), Dr Pam Yoder (US), Lukas Zinnagl (Austria).
